The Way In Which Super Quick Thinking Made Me Appear To Be Quite The Hero When My Employer Summoned Me Straight To His Large Office
So the work day began with me racing all-around making an attempt to get to my job on time. A handful of mornings are definitely more challenging compared to others. Thank goodness the commuter bus was late so I did not miss it and I was just a few minutes late to my workplace.
The past couple of days I was arranging a San Francisco yacht rental birthday celebration social gathering with Yachtsf.com. We are planning on having approximately 140 close friends on a private yacht for 3 hours of hanging around with a DJ, snack food plus a full bar. It isn't really as expensive as I had imagined. So now I am overdue for my work and the instant I sit down I receive a phone call from the big supervisor to come into his fancy office. I am certainly terrified that I am in serious trouble with regard to being tardy.
My chairman tells me that the executive staff from corporate is flying out in order to pay a visit to our business and he asks me if I posses any very good night-life ideas. I promptly tell him about a San Francisco yacht charter. He likes the idea of getting the executive team out on the bay for great food and cocktails. He asks me to work on it and then return to him by midday. I did not point out that I had already performed all of the homework on company time within the last day or two.
Of course our company has got a larger budget when compared with me and my buddies. I phoned up the person at Yachtsf.com and explained to him what we required. Within about 10 minutes I'd verified that a couple great luxury yachts were available for our time frame and I had an e-mail with pricing for both private yacht options, entertainment alternatives, food selection, clientele list as well as the firm's brochure. With a couple of clicks I printed everything out and by 9:30 I put the whole bundle on my boss's desk. He seemed a little bit amazed and then started looking through the material. Every little thing we required to decide was right in front of him. At 10:30 he phoned me back into his corner office and gave me the go-ahead to reserve the yacht which he liked best. He explained which food selection he required and that he expected a DJ for entertainment.
I phoned back and advised my contact about the changes we wanted. A few minutes later I had the modified rental contract and my supervisor signed off on the celebration. This was by far the simplest event I've ever planned due to the superb customer care I received.
We went on the San Francisco dinner cruise and the executive staff and my chairman had a fantastic time. They took photographs of the wonderful sights and joked around. The meal was terrific and dessert was possibly even better (I have a sizable sweet tooth). Soon after dinner the DJ spun dancing music and everyone danced with their wives or girlfriends and pretty soon the old locomotion was under way. It was entertaining and a very good opportunity for our company to get to know the corporate folks.
It was such a success that several months later my manager called me into his corner office and offered me a promotion and a raise. I'm currently responsible for all company events for the west coast offices. We've booked several more parties with the aid of Yachtsf.com and every single one was remarkable.
