The face of gaming changes a lot, not just in the last decade, but even just a year or two. It wasn't very long ago, that we were sitting close to our TVs, hard wired to our gaming machines via our controllers. We waited many years for manufacturers to release with wireless controllers which weren't a bulky, clunky simple rip off, we desired the real deal.
We finally got it, and before we knew it, we were being sold controllers that you had to simply move or point at the monitor! The technology seemed to surpass the needs of the customer, and now was waiting on consumers to catch up. The PC game controller always seemed to be highly advanced in the mid 90s and early 2000s, but it always had to be pushing itself with titles like flight simulators and the likes.
The USB game controller was always perfect and simple to program to work with any game you desired, but anyhow always came across as a job only for nerds. PC gaming controllers needed to step back a bit, and think about home consoles for some help. It is only when this happened that games started to flourish overall range of gaming. Suddenly Xbox controllers that could be used with PC's made gaming so much more appealing and open to the mass gaming community.
All of a sudden everybody is playing FIFA Soccer or NFL Madden on non specific gaming machines globally.
