Longing For A Job, But Believing You Are Victimized By The Job Market With No An End In Sight (Is There Any Other Way)?
Constant turnover in the job market is called "churning" and many out of work people feel victimized. This phenomenon regarding jobs is brought about by many developments and every age seems to search for easy explanations about what's going on in the job market. Every age hunts for a new "devil" we can aim at and accuse, especially if I am the one who's lost his job.
Some of the conditions in history which have been used to give excuses for job churn embrace new technologies and inventions that rob jobs from human beings, or the installation of big box stores that put mom-and-pop stores out of business. As time goes on, new services and science bring in new ways, more economical ways, to do old, familiar tasks, in turn taking old jobs down the tubes.
A modern "devil" was outsourcing or the procedure of moving American jobs and tasks abroad into other job markets where human labor is less pricey. You can't blame companies and employers for trying to cut labor costs. But when those jobs go to prisoners or illegal immigrants, there can be an objection.
The in fashion "devil" is a poor economy, a complex turn of events being brought about by a diverse range of factors consisting of mortgage failures, home foreclosures and financial mismanagement among big banks and Wall Street firms. To some extent, the American worker has a right to consider him or herself a victim of conditions. The honesty of the circumstance, no matter how victimized you may feel, the bad guy or the devil is not going to liberate you or make things far better.
I remember a guy that has sent out well over 1000 resumes with not one single bite. It would seem that's all he knows to do in the current job environment. But I've got to ask him how many resumes will he have to mail before he realizes he is doing a churning of your own? You know the old saying: if you don't want to go bananas from doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results, then do something different.
So what can a people do that's different? Sure, keep posting out those resumes, but remember this: not only are all jobs mortal, but ways of securing employment also come and go and have a lifespan, which ends with, "The old way just doesn't work anymore."
Here are some suggestions:
- Insert a video of yourself on a website selling yourself and what you're capable of doing for others and in turn, pay.
- Talk to people, in other words, network, rather than of only sending out resumes.
- Sit in on job coaching groups and hear what others are doing different.
- Build up a clientele for a trade or service you can provide and become your own person in charge.
- Check out job possibilities overseas.
- Rather than looking for a job that will be full-time, with full benefits, conceive in terms of employment that are more like gigs, that is, one time offering of a service or task.
A personal step of mine that's unconventional to do is find a coach who can help you imagine outside the box and be more objective about your situation. Some one else can invariably be more detached than we are about our circumstance and thus contemplate more clearly about new means to get money in this prevailing new age of employment.
