His study, publish in Metabolism 1994 Jul;43 (7):814-8, reported that the high intensity interval training group lost about 3 times more body-fat than the traditional endurance training group did.

Because the high intensity training took less time to perform, and because fewer calories were burned performing exercises, Tremblay evaluated how much fat was lost for every calorie burned during exercising. The high intensity interval training group lost nine times more body fat for every calorie burned during exercise.
