An Alcohol Addicted Person Goes To Alcohol Rehabilitation And Gets Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcoholism

Donald used to brag to his friends how he could remain employed at a 40 hour per week job and get drunk almost every night. Sadly, after engaging in this destructive lifestyle for just about six years, he began to notice different alcohol related problems.

As an illustration, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so tired when he got up. Furthermore, virtually every morning Donald suffered from a severe hangover. In a word, the combination of his hangovers and his lack of get-up-and-go did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To make matters worse, roughly a week ago he received his third drunk driving arrest in the past year-and-a-half.

To further complicate things, at his job his last two work evaluations were less than acceptable. And lastly, his three-year relationship with his girlfriend had deteriorated due to his depression, angry outbursts, financial difficulties, and his lack of patience.

Though Donald was only twenty-three years old, he frankly started looking like he was in his mid thirties. Unfortunately, this is what careless and irresponsible drinking can do to a person. And in truth he comprehended that he was suffering from the adverse outcomes of alcohol abuse or alcohol addiction and that he was too young to fritter away his life to irresponsible drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Regrettably, he soon realized that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Since this was an incident that was repeated every time he went to a bar to drink, this bothered him greatly. In actual fact, he started to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.

After discussing his alcohol drinking problems and his abusive and excessive drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually decided to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Donald saw his healthcare practitioner, he openly declared that he has been abusing alcohol, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to refrain from drinking. He then said that drinking in moderation does not work well for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Donald also told his healthcare professional about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively affecting his relationship with his girlfriend. His doctor referred Donald to Doctor Venzel, an alcohol and drug addiction specialist, who persuaded Donald to register in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol treatment. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get treatment for his depression at this facility.

After six months of intensive treatment, Donald left the residential treatment facility and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a more positive way, Donald joined a gym and began working out two or three times per week. Within six months Donald was a new man. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most significant of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. In short, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
