A Young Couple Assesses Their Hazardous And Irresponsible Drinking And Their Short And Long-Term Plans, Hopes, And Dreams
Frank and Linda have been dating for four-and-a-half years. They met while enrolled in the same Greek philosophy class at a relatively large, rural, liberal arts college located in the Western part of the United States. While they were just good friends at first, they eventually started dating when they were in their second year of college.
Because both of them came from very conservative backgrounds, neither one of them drank much social drinking stage when they first began dating. As the time proceeded, however, they began to go to more football bashes, happy hours, keg parties, and sorority and fraternity parties. As a consequence, they steadily began to drink more the more they saw one another.
After they graduated from college, they both landed jobs in a relatively small city located around sixty-five miles from their undergraduate college. Then they decided to move into the same apartment together.
With any pivotal modification in an individual's life there is usually something that initiates the particular change in question. For Frank and Linda the notion of buying a new house and having children was this "catalyst." To come to the point, for the first time in their lives, Frank and Linda started to critically review their abusive and irresponsible drinking and the alcohol long term effects on their health. As an illustration, they started to wonder if they would ever experience an alcohol overdose due to their irresponsible and abusive drinking.
Would their hazardous and abusive drinking negatively affect their ability to have children? How would they be able to continue spending most of their money on drinking if they were to begin saving for a new house?
From a different viewpoint, even though neither one of them ever experienced alcohol poisoning, received a DUI, or experienced alcohol poisoning symptoms, they realized that their excessive and heavy drinking was becoming a troublesome issue that they could not overlook anymore. All of these queries undeniably led to the same conclusion, namely that Frank and Linda needed to understand that they couldn't continue their excessive and heavy drinking if their aspirations, hopes, and dreams were to be fulfilled.
Once they came to this conclusion, they notified their drinking buddies about their their plans to start a family, about their marital plans, and about their goal of buying or building a new house. They also told their drinking buddies that they still wanted to associate with them but that they would be drinking in strict moderation from this moment forward so that they could start to realize their future dreams, hopes, and aspirations.
Amazingly, all of their pals expressed relief because they too had been pondering the direction of their lives and concluded that their life-styles were much too often focused on drinking. They also felt that they would have to change significantly if they were to become more accountable and manifest more care for their careers, their health, and for their goals in the next ten or fifteen years.
After their candid chat with their pals about their dreams, hopes, and plans, Linda and Frank actually started to have more significant relationships with all of their pals. The fundamental reason for this was the fact that all of them had the same mentality regarding their excessive and hazardous drinking and their relatively short and long-term aspirations, plans, and goals.
