A Married Couple Becomes Nervous About Their Abusive And Excessive Drinking And Deliberates Whether They Display Any Alcohol Dependency Signs

Angie and Lenny have been married for three years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have a family and so they consciously constructed a very vigorous social life.

The chief issue, however, is that practically everything they do for excitement has something to do with drinking. For instance, all of the happy hours, sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and dinner engagements they attend somehow include drinking.

If they were responsible drinkers this wouldn't be a big issue. Since they drink in an irresponsible manner, nonetheless, they are starting to notice some instantly noticeable alcohol-related problems in their lives.

As an illustration, just six days ago Lenny was arrested for his first DWI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work due to alcohol-related health problems. What is more, Lenny's last two or three performance appraisals at his place of employment have been less than laudable and he has started to forget what he says or does the times that he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family has begun to grow concerned about his drinking problems.

Not unlike Lenny's situation, Angie has been feeling dejected about life in general and to deal with these feelings, she has been drinking more often than any time in the past year. Moreover, Angie has been getting a lot of painful headaches and having dreadful hangovers after drinking. As a final point, Angie has been feeling appreciably less energetic in the morning, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been receiving some inconsiderate criticism from her coworkers, family members, relatives, and friends about her excessive and hazardous drinking.

One Monday evening while watching the television, Angie and Lenny flipped through the channels and discovered a documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This television documentary was a real surprise to Lenny and Angie because some of the alcohol facts that were highlighted looked as if they were unswervingly associated with many of the alcohol related drinking problems Angie and Lenny had been going through.

With thoughts of the TV program still etched in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been exhibiting could mean that they are addicted to alcohol or perhaps becoming alcoholic. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the doctors at the nearby alcohol abuse treatment clinic to find out more about the gravity of their drinking situation.

Paradoxically, even though their drinking behavior hadn't yet changed, it was clear to see that Lenny and Angie were at least addressing their drinking difficulties, they were willing to find out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in finding out how they could substantially reduce or do away with the drinking-related problems that had started to deteriorate even further.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that night, they determined that the next morning, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol abuse rehab center located in the middle of town. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to deal with the drinking difficulties that had emerged in their lives, they actually had the most energizing night's sleep they could think of in the last seven weeks.
